No Communication, No Emergency Response
I have had a very negative experience with "The Vue." My daughter and I flew in from out of state on the morning of Sunday, August 16. This was the day before school started at MSU, and we were ready to move her belongings into her new apartment. To our surprise, the office was closed. We were locked out with no way to move her in. We called the phone number listed, and the answering service said someone would call us shortly. Common sense would dictate that even if the office was closed, there... should be a staff member on call who can problem-solve in an emergency. In this situation, someone just needed to hand her a pair of keys - all paperwork and fees were completed.
We waited on the sidewalk for an hour, and then called the service again. The Vue's answering service seemed surprised and told me they would mark it as "urgent" this time. They assured me someone would call back right away. After two hours, we still had not received a call, so I sent a Tweet hoping for a response, but to no avail. After three hours, I tried the chat feature on the website that says, "Questions? We're here for you". Trust me, they are not "here for you." No one responded to that either. We both felt abandoned, stressed, and panicked. It is now August 19, and we still have not received any communication.
Starting college is a stressful situation for everyone. The current pandemic compounds this; my daughter is very far from home and new to the area. The fact that no one from this business would return our call, leaving us stranded with suitcases on the sidewalk with nowhere to go is shocking. The answering service told me that they explained to the managers that my daughter had just flown in and was homeless since she could not enter the building, and they deemed that unworthy of a response.
I called the office again on Tuesday, August 18, and asked to speak with a manager to determine why – perhaps there were extenuating circumstances. The girl at the desk said she would personally hand the manager a note with my information and make sure someone returned my call. I still have not received any response. Our experiences in Missouri have been so wonderful – we have been so touched by the kindness, generosity, and friendliness of the MSU community. I do not understand how a business can neglect their clientele in this fashion. Parents – think twice and maybe look at other housing options.
