Infested with bugs, lackadaisical staff
I regret to say that my experience at Trailside Noda has been quite disappointing due to an ongoing pest issue that has severely impacted my quality of life. I have been a tenant here for a little under 2 months and was satisfied for the most part up until now.
For over two weeks, I have been plagued by an infestation of phorid flies in my apartment. Despite a visit from pest control, who treated the drains, the problem remains unresolved. The pest control service was not only ineffective but... also misidentified the pest as fruit flies—something I had to correct myself after seeking a second opinion. These are not pests I have ever encountered living in apartments over the past 3 years.
Every day, I see around 20 of these flies, particularly in the kitchen where they create a significant nuisance. Preparing meals has become impossible as I am constantly swarmed by flies, and any food or drinks left unattended are at risk of becoming infested. This is very inconvenient and unsanitary as I work from home and have found myself eating meals in my car to avoid the bugs.
The issue is not limited to the kitchen, as I have also found flies in the bathroom. Despite taking numerous steps to address the problem myself—such as treating the drains, sealing them at night, using a Zevo pest lamp, and maintaining a pristine space—the infestation persists. I have spent over $75 in supplies between Amazon and Walmart to help control this infestation, none of which have worked.
I reached out to the leasing office as well as a regional contact to express my ongoing frustration and request further help, but unfortunately, each time my emails were ignored. According to the office this has been a complaint from multiple tenants as some neighbors have also experienced a bug issue in their units. When I went in person, I was met with vague assurances that the problem would be addressed—yet no effective follow-up or response has been provided. This should not be surprising to me as communication was an issue within the application process as well.
In all, I am truly disappointed with my experience here at Trailside as it looked as if it would be the perfect place to start roots in Charlotte. Writing a review on this community was the last route I wanted to take in this situation, however, when someone is paying to live in a safe, clean space you would expect your concerns to be taken seriously.

Our trash rooms have additionally been treated, and our... team has put measures in place to prevent this from occurring again.
