Buyer Beware
We have lived at Evolve Huntersville for just over three months. While the property itself is new and the apartments are beautiful, our overall experience has been challenging due to several concerns that prospective residents may want to consider.
For the first few weeks after we moved in, construction and maintenance workers frequently entered our apartment without notice or permission. This continued even after we notified the front office when we were told to "buy a doormat." It wasn’t... until key fob access was finally removed from workers that the issue stopped.
We also witnessed a paint spill incident in the parking lot, where workers were seen scooping paint into buckets and dumping it into a public storm drain and surrounding plants. We reported the issue to the front office as it was happening. Still, no action was taken to stop it, no acknowledgment of the incident after the fact, and we did not receive any follow-up.
Safety has also been a growing concern, with several police responses and suspicious activity around our building making us feel very uneasy. Additionally, we have yet to receive a mailbox key. At one point, we were advised to retrieve our mail from an open mail room unsupervised, where all residents' mail was sorted on open shelves—something we found very unsettling from a security and privacy standpoint.
Lastly, communication with the office has been incredibly difficult, with delayed responses, canceled meetings, and even no-call no-shows when we scheduled time away from work to attend them. Ultimately, we feel that our concerns and general well-being were not important to management, and we regularly needed to follow up on communications just to get a response.
We ultimately requested to end our lease early due to these ongoing issues.
Evolve has great potential, and we hope our experience was an exception rather than the norm. However, we recommend that future residents ask questions about mail access, maintenance protocols, and safety measures before moving in. Transparency and responsiveness are key to a positive living experience, and we encourage management to continue improving in those areas.
