15-months of Disappointment
Where to start, well when I first toured the facility one of my first questions was about smoking. I was told "this is a non-smoking property" which was a joke that I obviously missed. For the first 6-plus months I dealt with downstairs neighbors who chain smoked on their front patio which would constantly fill not only my balcony, but heaven forbid that I left my windows open I would come home to an apartment that smelled like an ash tray. Repeatedly I asked the staff, mainly Whitney, to do... something about it. She would reluctantly waltz over to them, ask them to stop and then a week later we were back at it with them smoking out front. In addition to the other two apartments across the lane who were also avid smokers, always on their balcony.
Next was the joy of maintenance requests. From day 1 of moving in I had drawers in the kitchen that were broken an unusable. Repeatedly I put in repair requests and for the entire 15 months I lived there, they were never fixed. If you put in a maintenance request, you were always throwing the dice at how long it took to complete it. My air conditioning stopped working, that took almost a week to fix. My fridge had a faulty seal, that took 3 days to repair, wasn't repaired correctly, and they sent out a different guy to fix it 3 days after that. Middle of the winter, the central heating stops working, took them another three days to fix. And thank god I had an electric heater to keep the apartment warm in sub freezing temps. The reason for all this? They can't keep maintenance staff, and when they can, they're general handymen. With no training as technicians or carpenters or any real repair skills. And they refuse to hire professionals until the handymen have finally SHOWED UP and told them "yea I can't do anything". Meanwhile you're left there to just WAIT for them to show up. A washing machine that stopped working mid-cycle and had a bucket full of dirty clothes-water? Got to smell that for an entire week before they finally sent out a professional repair man.
The apartments themselves look nice at first glance, but I can tell you they're about as slap dash as they come. Doors don't close or don't seal properly and when you ask for them to fix it, their solution is to take some double sided tape and stick foam insulation around the door edge. Rather than actually realign the hinges or fix it properly. They're worth about half what they're asking for rent.
