TERRIBLE QUALITY OF LIFE & TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT

The Colton feels like a scam and an extremely low-quality residence:

1. Proximity to a Polluting Factory: The Colton is located directly across from Poly-West, which is a factory that manufactures polyethylene products, including trash bags and industrial materials. I was unaware of this until I experienced suffocating fumes for weeks, causing severe headaches. Other residents have protested these conditions by posting signs around the complex.

2. False Advertising: A key selling point for me...
was the pool, yet it was unavailable for the first year and a half of my two-year tenancy due to permitting issues. The Colton dragged its feet in resolving this, and offering no compensation or solutions.

3. Noise and Safety Issues: While the pool may be enjoyable during the day, it becomes a nuisance at night, and practically turns into a night club. Guests bring loud speakers until 3 AM, even on weekdays.

4. Fire Hazard: On one occasion, late-night partying escalated to the point where a tree outside my window was set on fire due to fireworks at 2 AM.

5. High Staff Turnover and Unprofessional Behavior: In just two years, there have been four different management teams. The current staff, particularly an employee named Christina, are extremely unprofessional, antagonistic, and dismissive. Being rude to me on several occasions, slamming the door in my face when I sought help after hours for a broken AC, and my apartment was a sweltering 95-degrees.

6. Constant Disruptions: If you work from home, as I do, expect constant disruptions. Maintenance issues are frequent, requiring ongoing, loud repairs that interrupt your daily life.

7. Deceptive Fees: The Colton is notorious for offering “promotional offers” to entice you to sign a lease, only to add random, unjustified fees later. When I questioned these fees, Christina’s response was condescending and dismissive, telling me not to renew my lease if I didn’t like the charges. She went so far in stating, “Is this your first apartment or something? The owners have every right to increase the fees how ever much they’d like; this is completely legal. As least the fees aren’t as high as they were during COVID. Consider yourself lucky.”

This was the final straw for me, leading to my decision to seek legal action due to this abusive treatment.

This place is a dump

So I've been living here for a while. Number one your parking space gets stolen if you reserve a space. Their response is horrible at best for rectifying this. Secondly the pool has been not in use all year and we're in Nevada. Pretty much you can go anywhere else and be better off

Old apartment

We just moved our issues, office staff never followup ,dog mess all outside of our apartment side window. Staff excuses only one person on staff to clean dog mess up. Old apartment, mix match appliances they are old. Old carpet, second bathroom toilet runs a lot, screen door on porch never worked

Horrible move-in day

Move from Texas to Nevada my husband and my dog. Called office on or around April 15 about 5 day before we were to arrive to find out if the office would be close our move in day was the Friday before Easter I spoke to the office Manger Tammy she said it would be open they are having a party for the residents. I arrived 12:00 pm office was closed I look around I located one of Maintenance men name Manny told him my issue he quickly passed me off to Carlos the Maintenance manager he said Tammy... and the other office staff was out getting thinks for the party. Manny called Tammy she said she would be back soon. I requested to see the apartment Tammy told Carlos to show me.
Issues in the apartment per move in.
I enter the apartment I noticed.
1 paint spots missing in dining room (fixed)
2 paint spots missing in kitchen (fixed)
3 It smelled like a dog
4 second bathroom smelled like cigarettes smoke
5 second bathroom tub in and out dirty
6 masters bathroom tub in and out dirty
7 second bedroom screen broken
8 second bedroom blind broken and not matching other on one white other beige
9 screen door to pouch broken (fixed)
10 washing machine half fills up with water
11 light at front door not working (fixed)

Staff came back asked if I would give time to set up for party I agreed. Carlos let me in office I wait for Tammy to setup party. Have her listed of issues with apartment she spoke to Carlos he told Tammy he would work with me to fix issues with apartment mean while the gas company come to turn my gas Manny was at the apartment he was to let the gas man in he call the office told Tammy I went to meet him forgot I did not have key had not signed lease Manny should have let him in.
The gas man left 72 hours no gas means no hot water not able to cook food.
Awaiting more issues fixed

Just what we were hoping for!

My husband and I moved here from several states away, because of this we didn't have a chance to see the apartment before signing the lease and moving in. While this was nerve racking, we never encountered any problems! I worked with Juan before moving in and he was always willing to answer my questions and got back to me very quickly!

The move in process was very easy! The apartment had a couple of maintenance issues when we moved in but we mentioned them and they were taken care of that day...
or the next day. Maintenance has always been very quick to respond to issues. Communicating any problems to the office has been very easy, a simple phone call or stopping in works, no need to fill out forms. Tammy and Juan have both been very friendly and helpful since we have lived here! They always stop to say hi if they see you out and about.

We've lived here for about 6 months now and are very happy with what we have found! The grounds are very well kept - crews come in once a week to clean it up. It's great having a pool and fitness center on site! The apartment we chose (2bed/2bath) is updated and modern and has all the amenities we could need!

While it may be farther away it's right next to the interstate, about 20 minutes from the airport, 30 minutes from the strip and a short distance to Lake Mead and the Hoover Dam!

We would recommend Black Mountain Apartments to anyone!
