Decent apartment, bad management
I lived here for a year and didn't care to renew. The apartment itself was pretty nice, and they were surprisingly cooperative with refunding my security deposit. But otherwise there were a lot or problems, mostly with management (there were three property managers the year I was there) and maintenance:
-Several appliances didn't work among other maintenance issues when I moved in, and they took weeks to fix them. They did not take complaints about this seriously.
-They make you pay rent and... utilities through a shady third party billing service that charges fees, and they also charge the residents fees through this service that pay their property taxes and the office electricity. They blatantly lied about these fees before I moved in.
-The fixtures are nice looking but cheap; particle board cabinets, outlet covers that make it hard for plugs to connect, plastic chipped bathtub, etc.
-The hot tub did not work the entire year, and the pool was "being repaired" for most of that year. Whenever management was asked about it they shrugged and blamed corporate.
-Some of the maintenance guys were great, but often the maintenance staff did shoddy repairs and both maintenance and management talked down to me and treated me like a liar about maintenance requests. Some repairs were still left undone when I moved out.
-The office rarely answers their phone or emails unless you harass them. I had to call the corporate office to get a reply from the office manager about an important concern after they ignored me for a week. The weekend office staff would usually reply to concerns with "I'll tell the manager on Monday" and were not often helpful.
-Their response to COVID-19 was to send the residents an unresearched list of rental assistance programs and give discounts to those who paid rent early, with a vague line about talking to them if you have trouble paying rent.
I am not one to complain, but I have rented all my adult life and this is the worst experience I have ever had. It wasn't a slum and it could have been worse, but the management only cares about your money and it's not worth the fairly high rent and dishonest hidden fees.
