Old buildings with many problems
My apartment has been flooded four times! The first time was the very first night I moved in. The second-floor neighbors left their sink on. It took them weeks to redo the ceiling damage and it still looks horrible to this day. The second time they failed to clean the gutters so when it rained the water came through the walls and flooded my entire living room and dining room. The third time the third-floor neighbor’s laundry machine leaked and flooded both the second and first floor apartments.... Finally, today my dining room and living room are flooded because it has been raining for two days and it all came through the walls again. I have asked for the carpets to be replaced every time but was told they were still good and sanitized. All they do is vacuum up the water and then leave large fans to dry the rest. I don’t understand how that is sanitizing.

I am sorry that you have had some issues with your home since moving in. I want to start by saying that a lot of these issues happened before Towne Properties took over management at the end of January and I'd like to let you know how we deal with... issues like this. Since we took over management there was one instance of a clogged gutter causing some carpet near a wall to become wet. We immediately called out to the company we use for carpet cleaning and repairs and within two hours they were there, fixing the gutter and cleaning the carpet. To clean the carpet they used a heavy duty sanitation spray and set some fans out for it to dry. They determined that the carpet itself did not need replacing and the cleaning they gave it would suffice so long as it was given ample time to dry. Mold does pop up in bathrooms from time to time due to the heat and steam. We recommend cleaning with bleach when it starts to appear. If this is something you are unable to do yourself, you can call the office and one of our maintenance staff will be out to clean it for you. The mat in the shower is a fiberglass repair patch put in professionally by Royal Finish to repair a crack in the tub. It is not meant to be removed. Rodent and bug checks are done monthly. If an issue is found or reported, our pest control company will come out until the issue is resolved. Occasionally birds will sit on the section of the AC unit that is outside, and that can distract pets. We have found no evidence of rodents inside the walls. The previous management company decided not to do any renewals while this transition to a new company was in process. This was something we didn't have a choice in. I apologize that it took so long get you a renewal offer. ?? In choosing to go month to month that incurs additional fees. This is a common practice in apartment communities. I am sorry you were unhappy with some things at the community and wish you luck as you move to a new home.
