Awful Experience
When I moved in I was confronted with an apartment that was not cleaned at all. I say this without exaggeration. This included old crumbs of food in the microwave that also had burn marks. It also included caked dust above every door, window, and on top of the cabinets and refrigerator. The real kicker was when I opened a drawer in the kitchen just to find the previous tenant's belongings still in it. One of the window screens was also covered in grease/oil with two grills left right outside the... window. One of the employees had to call the owner of the cleaning service that they use, and she personally had to come and help my parents and I clean the place on the day of move in. This was appreciated, but should not have been necessary in the first place.
Trash will pile up in the walkways, with many bags sometimes completely open or ripped open from the roaming racoons/cats. This obviously isn't a great sight or smell to wake up to in the morning.
To move out they had the audacity to charge me for damages that the previous tenant caused. They wouldn't know the previous tenant caused them since they obviously didn't inspect the apartment whatsoever before my move in day. Their claim was that I had caused two dark spots on the wall. I responded and said that the previous tenant caused them. They literally assured me that the previous tenant did not cause the dark spots. Luckily enough, while I was documenting the disgusting apartment on move in day, I happened to capture one of the two dark spots that the assistant manager assured me was of my doing. What was their response? After being unable to provide a photo of the other stain since I didn't document every single square inch of the place, here it is word for word "Unfortunately I am unable to lower or remove the cost of the paint. The usual touch up paint cost is $50.00, but the paint stain on the wall by the head of the bed required multiple coats and more labor/time than usual.". So I proved that one of the two stains that they claimed was my doing, was actually not my doing, but the original charge for a total of two stains remained because their workers were inefficient in painting a small spot on a wall.
They also charge something at moveout for a "carpet cleaning fee". My carpet, along with everything else in the apartment, sure wasn't clean when I moved in so I'm not sure where that fee is actually going.
