RUN AWAY
We had difficulties with the management of this building throughout our entire stay. Over the entire year, I placed MULTIPLE complaints both written and in person for the heavy marijuana smell from my neighbors. I was told by the office that there was nothing they could do about it because “it could be medicinal.” That alone throughout our entire lease made our stay very disappointing.
Several months into our stay, my car was also towed because I changed my license plate and forgot to update... it through the ‘right’ portal. I understand that ultimately this was my fault, but the towing company did not look at the sticker provided to each resident to enter the garage on my windshield, which is a dead giveaway that I was in fact a resident. The purpose of the towing company is so that residents have a place to park and don’t have to fight non-residents for spots. Because of this, I had to pay $300 to get my car back from my OWN COMPLEX, and missed an entire day of work. The office was completely dismissive and unsympathetic.
The pool was filthy all winter/a good portion into warmer weather — thank goodness we didn’t pay extra to view the pool area. The grill was always out of propane or bombarded by 6 groups fighting over it. Many desirable weekends, large groups would bring their own large speakers/DJ and blast explicit music to where no one else could enjoy the pool. Again, thank goodness we didn’t have a pool-facing room.
We had several maintenance issues throughout our stay, including the above neighbor’s washing machine flood their apartment into ours, damaging our rugs and laundry supplies — so much so that we weren’t home when it happened that the residents BELOW us reported it because theirs flooded as well. We also had all of the outlets in the living room area malfunction and stop working (including the only spot available for the wifi to be plugged in, and I worked from home at the time), and it took a few days for them to repair whatever damage occurred and finally leaving a mess of dust and drywall under all of the outlets.
All that to be said, we thought we escaped this place when we moved out, only to be hit with a massive bill afterwards. The fees we were hit with are outrageous. Not only did they take away our entire security deposit and pet deposit ($150 + $250), but we still apparently owed $128 on top of that for 'blind replacement and damage', which of course they had no proof of.
