Charm, Customer Service, Timeless
I share this review with a sense of delicacy, one striving to be honest and provide some social good to others seeking a review while recognizing that higher demand of what is good makes my life in retirement somewhat more difficult, as higher demand tends to drive up costs. That said, I have lived in a third floor studio at The Edgar at Linden Row for approximately eleven months, and I hope my successor shares my adoration of it.
Charm. On many occasions, I have approached my home at The... Edgar on Linden Row with a sense that I was living in a beautiful movie. The white of snow against the red bricks, black fence, and green Ivy and Magnolia leaves; the majestic Magnolia tree unique to our courtyard on the row, a tree that blooms firm, white flowers in Spring; the two red chairs in the courtyard that remind me that home is a place of rest and peace; and more recently, the courtyard, which had been destroyed by tenants who allowed their dogs to convert a beautiful courtyard into a dusty dog park with holes and daily urine on the fence and sidewalk, was recaptured (the destructive dogs are gone), revived, and adorned with plants and stones. For most of my time here, it has been relaxing to come home, and perhaps I will most miss the charm of this place and the smile that often spread lightly across my face as I approached it most days.
Energy efficiency. I had never previously lived in a home with an energy efficient stovetop and heater, and I experienced a mild adjustment period with that. After a few days or weeks, I not only adjusted to lower-heat cooking temperatures, but I intend to use lower heat temperatures to cook going forward, even with a conventional stovetop. I also discovered that I sleep better in cooler temperatures, so I rarely used my heater.
Staff: Management's customer service, together with the charm of this place, are enough to make me consider life-long tenancy here.
Neighbors: Currently, my neighbors are pleasant and respectful of the shared house-like environment. If you decide to make this place your new home, I hope you continue to respect the timeless delicacy of peace. Some of us need it. I am relocating to another state, but should I return to Richmond, Virginia some day, I hope to find that you have respected this place I presently call home.
