Pros and Cons From a Longtime Resident
I have lived in Watermark for over two years in one of the lofts, I genuinely do like living here, but there are some things you should know.
Pros:
The community here is absolutely great. You will easily make friends in the common spaces.
There is a secret dog clique here. All the dog owners know each other and are good friends.
The public spaces are kept incredibly clean. Huge plus during Covid.
You are right next to the B Cycle station at the Sheraton, a bus station, and the beltline....
If you have a lake view, then the views are absolutely incredible.
Plenty of community gardens to grow plants if you’re into that.
Very responsive maintenance staff.
My unit has quite possibly the largest utility closet I have ever seen in an apartment. This is incredible.
You have access to fiber internet through AT&T. I generally get 200-400 both up and down over WiFi here with AT&T fiber. Spectrum 960 Mbps tier generally gave me 250 down and 15-30 up.
If you live in a loft, then every guest you have over is generally impressed by the place. It’s a cool living space!
Cons:
Moving in/out takes forever.
There is only one extremely slow elevator. Expect to add 5-10 minutes to your commute time. The elevator broke three times since I’ve lived here.
Parking is expensive. Cheaper alternatives are inconvenient.
If you live in a loft, then expect a $200+ electric bill in the summer. There are no blinds at all on the second floor, and the sun will cause your apartment temps to reach 78°F or higher. During the winter, the sun heats your apartment and the furnace almost never turns on. My lowest utility bill was in March of 2020 at $63. It’s important to note that sometimes you have to turn on the A/C in the winter because the sun can make your unit that hot.
The proximity to the lake is misleading. There is no useable beach other than a small slope of rubble that you have to cross the train tracks to get to. There’s green algae there in the summer, and the scooper boats rarely clean the area.
The train tracks are right next to the building. The trains are really annoying. They’re pretty infrequent, so this is not a huge issue.
The proximity to the lake makes the roof a massive breeding ground for mosquitoes. You absolutely have to wear bug spray up there in the summer.
The bathrooms are oversized and waste a lot of square footage that could be used for the bedroom, closet, etc.
The building has had consistent hot water issues.

Thank you for taking the time to review Watermark Lofts – we genuinely appreciate the honest feedback! While there are a few things that may be out of our control, such as mosquitoes and algae blooms, there are a few issues you brought up that we... hope to improve upon. After the temperature in the lofts was brought to my attention, we are currently working to get bids for blinds on the second floor windows to help with the temperature, especially on sunny days. We unfortunately did have one of our water heaters go out at the end of 2020 which we got replaced and haven’t had any hot water issues since. Again, we genuinely appreciate the feedback and welcome any additional comments as we are always looking for areas to improve upon. Thank you! Watermark Lofts Management
