Don’t do it.
We had a great experience with Brett and Chrissi + grounds are very well kept and beautiful.
The building we were in was infested with bugs-silverfish. (in the lights, hallways, cracks in the walls) Management told us they came into our residence to treat for the silverfish. We had Nest cams in our apartment and didn’t see anyone.
The only precaution for Covid they took was putting up a sign limiting one family at a time per elevator. No signs requiring masks especially in the indoor buildings... . Even cleaning staff were often not masked in indoor hallways + indoor gym.
We were also told our apartment would be cleaned really well and sanitized before we moved in. Disappointed to find a missing smoke detector, dirty bathtubs, dirt in sliding doors/vertical blinds (+ food stains), a broken leaking dishwasher (huge puddle across entire kitchen), and kitchen cabinets that weren’t emptied (food left behind).
As our move out date drew near, we had already contacted the office/spoke with several staff members asking if there’s anything specific we needed to do or a checklist of some sort to avoid charges. They said no, just clean a little and fill in holes in the wall because they were going to need to clean it anyway for the next resident.
I triple checked, filled in the holes where our TV was mounted, did an easy off treatment in the oven, wiped surfaces, vacuumed, dusted trim, cleaned bathrooms/arguably left the place in better condition than we found it.
We’ve been out for two months and had to call several times about our deposit. Then we get an email (after speaking with 2 staff members) that we won’t be getting our deposit back and that we OWE money. When asked why we owe, one of us was told “utilities for two months... we hadn’t gotten the bills because the mail was running late.” (bills are electronic/utilities were included in our rent. We paid online, on time every month. When asked again (same staff member), he said the fee was for cleaning costs. Over $100 for cleaning the oven, INDENTATION marks on the carpet from where our furniture sat, and a cracked refrigerator drawer (our fault). So we are out $300 for the security deposit PLUS $140 and some change.
Never in our lives have we had such a negative experience with an apartment complex. Drew has been rude the entire time we have lived in the apartment (we always asked to speak to someone else). We will NEVER recommend Urban Green to anyone.
