Expect constant maintenance work

I have lived here for more than a decade, and the only thing positive I can say about it is that their "carrying charge" (which is coop rent) is very reasonable. Every few months, they schedule some huge maintenance project and subcontract an outside company to come into your home to replace something that doesn't need to be replaced, and you don't have a choice. First was the furnaces; I can say for certain that my furnace was working just fine and the new one they installed is really loud. ... Then, a few months later, they decided to replace everyone's attic insulation. Then it was everyone's doors. Next it'll be refrigerators and stoves. My furnace, door, refrigerator, and stove all work fine, but I can't opt out of it, so I get to take a day off of work every few months so I can be home when a bunch of random men come into my home against my will. As well, the neighborhood has gotten incredibly noisy over the last couple of years, and crime has become frequent, especially vandalism. If you can afford to live anywhere else, take it, this coop is terrible.
