Property is fine, but overpriced.

I lived there for a year and it was fine.

Parking was annoying, and they were picky about silly things, but overall it was nice.

Near the end of our lease, she let us know it would be increasing our rent a seemingly high amount, and when we asked what improvements would be made or how it would benefit us, she had no answer and was extremely rude.

Naturally, we did not resign our lease and instead ended up renting a small home (but with more sq ft than the apartment) with an entire backyard...
for a lesser amount of money.

Lack of Transparency

I am not happy with my choice of living here. I do love our unit and the location, but the noise in the area with construction across the street has been ridiculous. When we toured, we were told the construction would be done in about 6 months. After moving in, we found out that there is another new building going up right next door which was passed AT THE SAME TIME. This project is going to last years, which management definitely knew when we we toured. It wouldn’t be that big of an issue if... the building was more sound proof. You can hear EVERYTHING going on outside. I work solely from home and it’s nearly impossible to take a meeting from anywhere in our unit. For the ridiculous amount of money we pay to live here, we at least deserved some honesty about the area. Had I known I wouldn’t even be able to work without constant disruption, I would never have chosen this apartment. They made it out to be a temporary disruption, and now I’ll have to go through the process of moving again in 6 months because it’s not ending anytime soon. Not worth the money.

No Sound Insulation Between Units

If you want to hear all your neighbors open and shut cabinets, and even hear the toilet flush from the unit above, this is the place for you. There is no concrete or fillers between units, and it is almost unbearable. If you like being distracted and like hearing things outside of your apartment, this is the place for you. Oh, and the parking garage is so narrow you will have about 1 inch on either side if your car pulling in and out, good luck with your mirrors. Not worth the money, the... outside looks great, but looks can be deceiving, go somewhere else.

Property Manager at The Curtis Apartments responded to this review

I am sorry you had a bad experience at TheCurtis Apartments. Furniture or rugs always help to insulate and make an empty apartment less of an echo chamber. We do have extra insulation between apartments and between floors to help with the noise. ... That being said, just as in any home, you will hear some noise.
