Avoid

The one positive about this building is the location, but there are tons of other options nearby.
The landlady is extremely cheap. The rent may appear average, but she is always trying to get more money out of her tenants in other ways. The parking is very expensive, but in the five years I lived there it was only plowed maybe half a dozen times. The landlady will park in your paid spot whenever she feels like it. They even turned the fire lane into more parking spots to squeeze out a little...
more money in parking fees. The laundry is very expensive at $2.50 for one wash or dry load. The landlady is also going to rip you off in the security deposit.
They are also very cheap when it comes to maintenance. The building is generally in poor shape - old, damaged windows, shoddy paint jobs, tons of electrical outlets that don't work, etc. So many window screens have holes in them that many bugs can get in. Once, the back door was broken and wouldn't consistently latch shut for several months before it was fixed.
There were multiple thefts in the building while I lived there. The response to this isn't to get any meaningfully better security measures, but to make it almost impossible to get a spare key. If you need someone to have a spare key for a purpose such as pet sitting, they will make it extremely inconvenient or just say no.
I'd never live in another building owned by them.

Can't Recommend

The location is good, but there are many better options in the same area. The landlady was cheap and difficult to deal with. The rent was average, but the condition of the building is worse than others nearby and things like parking and laundry cost more here than at similar buildings. Experienced routine issues like recurring broken laundry machines, theft, broken lock on the back door for months, and the landlady helping herself to anyone's paid parking spot when she is in town. It's shabby... and they'll try to nickel and dime you while being as cheap as possible on normal maintenance.

Look elsewhere

I've lived here for two years, and management hasn't done anything to improve or update the building. They don't deep clean the apartments, and instead it seems they all have the "landlord special" where they just paint over everything. Many times when I've cleaned my apartment, paint chips have fallen from the walls. The shared washers and dryers have never been cleaned to my knowledge, and they are $2.50 a load. This rate was increased unexpectedly when one of the washers broke and needed to... be replaced. They did not replace it for over a week, and during this time, the other washer broke. They increased the rent my second year, but nothing has been updated, except a new washer, which was supposed to be paid for with the increased laundry rate. The bathtub in my apartment has enamel chipping off of it and rust in the bottom of it. I have asked the caretaker and the manager to fix it since I moved in, and their reply is "I'll add it to my list." I even offered to pay to repair the tub myself, and they declined with no explanation. Finally, I own two cats and require a catsitter when I travel. Usually, I had a fellow neighbor watch them. Over the holidays, I was going to have a friend who lives locally feed them, so I asked for a spare key to the building. Previously, they had offered that you could get a spare key with a fee ($50, which is quite high considering making a copy of a key is only $5). When I inquired about this, the manager refused to give me a spare key, saying that past tenants kept their building key copies and were using those keys to break-in. Keep in mind, no mention of this was said until I inquired about a spare key. Several of my neighbors have experienced the same things. One of them has developed mold toxicity and another has developed severe asthma - they are both leaving as soon as possible. Overall, the location and price is good, but you can probably find a more well-taken care of building for the same price.
