Stay Away
I rented here just 6 months and rarely there but needed a place for work in Raleigh. Place is old and dark and traffic heavy getting out. But my real issue was the scam for pets. I paid $300 plus $15 a month pet fee. When I moved out place was spotless and I was out of town so I didnt have a walk through or offered one. Big mistake. They went in and replaced the whole apartment carpet claiming there were two spots on it. I asked why didnt you clean it and offered and sent $200. Their... response: cashed the check and sent the dubious claim to collections! Why wouldnt you clean it first and then if needing replacement you fix the areas. The only reason I see for replacing the whole thing and charging you is to get new carpet into an aging dark apartment. By the way, my dog is housebroken and after all this I just read another former tenet saying same thing. Makes we wonder if I even had two spots to begin with. Stay away.

Friendly staff, horrible kitchen
Pros: if you’re looking for a quiet, dog friendly neighborhood, this is the perfect spot for you. The complex allows all kinds of breeds and have a program to recognize timid dogs by providing lease ribbons to signify the dog is anti-social. There are dog waste stations around every corner and a huge mulch dog park. The complex is gated and has a nice, warm neighborhood feel to it. The floor plans are great, sound proof and priced fairly. Maintanence is very responsive and completes work orders... very efficiently. I feel like I have plenty of privacy and have a feeling of safety living here. The office staff is always friendly and prompt also. Our move in was easy and stress free.
Cons: the new kitchen renovations the complex did are cheap for what you pay for. The only positive would be the cabinets; they’re of a good material and have plenty of space for storage. On the other hand, the appliances are bottom shelf and the floor is of the cheapest material. I moved in to a brand new renovated apartment and walked into a completely damaged dishwasher. There was a huge dent on the bottom left corner which kept the dishwasher from opening more than halfway and it was placed in crooked. The damaged dishwasher should NEVER have been installed in the first place. It should have been returned for a new unit the second mantainance saw the obvious damage. Maintenence did respond to my request the next day and was able to make the dishwasher open 3/4’s way, but it’s still an eyesore and the bottom drawer still slides back into the dishwasher unless you hold it while loading. Additionally the floor in the kitchen was already torn in two areas, and the stove is a very cheap flattop that scratches way too easily. I understand that the company that did the kitchen renos was contracted, but that kind of carelessness makes the complex look bad. With the low quality flooring, stove top, and dishwasher, we are worried about living and using them for another year.

Like home
This is more like a home than my past experiences with apartments which was stagnant and institution like. The staff is helpful and fixes any problems that arise. They host get-togethers to really bring us together as a community. So glad we found Avalon Peaks.
