I’ve been here for 6 months now, and I think this is a fine place to rent your first apartment at. Summit Village also, at the time of writing this review at least, has some of the most affordable apartments in the entire country. You will not find a better bang for your buck anytime soon.
With that being said, l’ll dive into the pros and cons of living in my particular unit (221L), as well as at this property in general.
——-
Cons:
- The toilet kinda sucks. You will need multiple flushes... to get everything down way more often than you would like. This drives up your sewage bill for the month, and is something to consider.
- This unit is a little beat up. Old paint covering parts of the windows, cracks in the walls, broken floorboards with exposed nails on the balcony. Probably this unit will get refurbished for the next tenant, but as of right now it’s a little rough around the edges.
- There is a valet trash service that SOMETIMES does their job. They’re supposed to come Sunday thru Thursday to collect any trash you leave in the designated bin outside, but sometimes they neglect to do their job. This is a service you are paying $20 a month for, mind you. Usually they’ll attend to it in a timely manner, but I would much rather take the trash out myself and save the $20 a month.
- My heater/AC has needed service multiple times, either because it wouldn’t turn off, or on in the first place. Very frustrating. This happened basically once a month. I assume it’s because this is an older unit, but it’s still unacceptable. Especially during the winter time.
- There’s a freight train that goes by all hours of the day and night. I realize there’s nothing to be done about that, but it took a little while for me to adjust to that. Something to consider.
Pros:
- VERY affordable (at the time of this review) 2 bedroom apartment. The average cost for a studio is around $1800 these days, and my 2 bedroom apartment costs less than $1100 after rent, community-wide fees, and bills. As far as I know this is one of the cheapest 2 bedroom apartments in the entire country. It’s also very spacious at 824 sq ft.
- Maintenance men are rockstars. They constantly fulfill service requests the same day you submit them. Whatever Summit Village is currently paying them, they need a bonus or something. They are awesome.
- Zero noise complaints about my neighbors. Besides my downstairs neighbors throwing house parties on the weekends sometimes, it is nice and quiet. Very importan
