Irresponsible Management, No accountability for their serious mistakes
I lived in the pines for 2 years. The apartments aren't terrible, but the office and property owner lack responsibility and communication to tenants.
I communicated to them my intent to move out over 60 days before per the lease agreement, handed in my keys a month early and advised I was prepared to pay for the full lease even though I moved out early. Come the next month, I checked the portal to pay my rent and there was nothing due. I called the office and explained I had no charges and was... wondering why. They said I owed nothing and was good to go. No charges on portal, no emails, no phone calls, no mail for the entire month. The following month I got a letter saying I owe rent for the previous month - even though I was told otherwise.
I called Marci (Property owner), explained the situation, and asked why I was told I was free of rent. I provided proof of timestamps of when I called, and she was coincidentally unable to find notes of my conversation or the mistake they made. Compounded with the fact that I was never charged rent for the entire month indicated a serious failure on their end. The office employees are an extension of the management, and if there is no oversight for important interactions such as this, that is indicative of irresponsible practices.
I did my due diligence to ensure I paid what I owed, and due to the mistakes of the office and property manager, I was falsely told I did not owe anything and was never followed up on until the following month. This business does not have accountability for their mistakes, do not trust their word.
Renters agreements are brutal for the tenant, and in these unfair situations the Landlord typically has the upper hand unless they occupy the space while you were still technically under the lease. My advice to future renters; Avoid this place, read the fine print, and when you think you've done your due diligence, think again and record your interactions.
