Stay away from Lake Unfairway
RUN DON'T WALK AWAY FROM LAKE UNFAIRWAY. I had said before that in 30 years of renting this was the worst place I rented, but had some of the nicest staff. A few months later the former is still true, but the latter is not. The smiling faces that work in the office will remember your dog's name and wave to you, but the true colors come out when there is a problem.
I moved from out of state. When I arrived, the property manager gave me the keys, walked me to the building but did not go in with... me. I know why. It was disgusting. I was sent a photo of a fairly looking bathroom. This one was dirty and old. I opened a door under the kitchen sink and it just fell off. Rotten and attached many times. The water is off constantly. You pay for water as a community but a lot is wasted. The sprinklers will douse you as they water the sidewalk more than the grass and sometimes gush in the air like a geyser. Tenants have access to the outside faucets. A man in building B will stand outside even in the rain, wasting water with a hose, sometimes well over an hour. There is a "convenience fee" no matter how you pay even an ACH from your bank. It is not really convenient when there is no inconvenient way, it is just a money grab. The neighbors smoked so much pot while their kids cried that I could never open my windows on hot nights. I had a delivery put at a neighbor's door and had to threaten to file a police report to get it back. They had already stripped off my name to return the items for cash.
I moved out at the end of my lease and was immediately sent a final bill with a zero balance. I was happy to just to be done with the place. Nope. FOUR AND A HALF MONTHS later, I receive a bill. Conveniently, by this time I no longer had access to online statements to see if this was something I had already paid. I contacted the property manager who said she would be in touch with the property management company and get back to me. She did not. She also ignored a follow up email and phone call. I guess for good reason as the after care people say it was the fault of the onsite people. I was given a total of 3 final bills. The aftercare people changed some totals after they took one off to keep the balance the same. I paid under protest and they stopped communicating with me. Now I am filing a complaint with the Texas Attorney General.
