Alesio Urban Center Apartments

It's 2 in the morning on a Friday night. I was woken up by my 'Smoke Detector'. No, there's no smoke or fire in my apartment.
I have complained about this issue over months and it was never solved. It'll never be solved. My only sweet release from all these countless sleepless nights is that my lease is ending this month.

Short review: don’t move here.

Long review: The management only cares about taking your money. They put on a nice, new coat of paint on the buildings, but inside they are never cleaned. Trash all in the halls, elevators, stairwells. And I dare you to get someone on the phone ?? not going to happen. It’s cheap for a reason. I get if this is your only option in your price range, but don’t say you weren’t warned.

I've lived here for a few years now and it was all good in the beginning. Great location and nice amenities. But the longer I have stayed, I've started to hear about crimes happening in the garages and started to see the property deteriate and see police cars more often. I have also seen a broken window facing the lake. The problem is that there's no security here whatever. No gates, no cameras. The gate in the garage is almost never working so its left open often. Constant robberies. Managment refuses to put cameras in the garages. Garage gate broken open and stays open for months on end. Anyone can go up and down. Zero security. Occasional gun shots at night. They will comment under this post to act like they are there to help. But the number they post doesn't go to anyone and ask managment for help all you want..they wont

First day:
I noticed the way they clean everything between residents is by spray painting. Like the bath tub. So gross how any sweat stains and wear are just covered up with fresh layer of paint. This goes also for drawers and cupboards. Make sure to wipe EVERYTHING down.

Management:
Management has been going downhill since 2018. Extremely frustrating how unreachable everyone is. The office voicemails never get followed up on.

Architecture:
Love the layouts of the apartments. Very... unique windows, floor plans, and just general arrangements. Probably my favorite thing besides the views. It's definitely aged but the space feels authentic.

Repair:
Small repairs are fine and usually get done at a good pace.

Large repairs usually end up worse than before. This goes for doors, frames, and porch balconies.

Crime:
There is no security in this place. Garage doors are always open. All entrances to the building are open. Apartment doors are paper thin and loose. All of this results in car burglaries and thefts on property.

Amenities:
No locks and no supervision of the pool areas result in tons of outside visitors who bring glass bottles, loud rap, and tons of trash. Otherwise, the pools are built really pretty and are cleaned routinely on weekdays. The resident office amenities are currently not usable due to Covid.

Kitchen/Appliances:
As long as you get one of the remodeled units, they are modern and new. Only complaint here is that the building is really old and the washer's water hookups smell terribly.

Plumbing:
I've had some issues with my toilet expelling poop smells as a result of back pressure. The problem comes back once or twice a year. Makes the whole apartment smell like farts. I guess the silver lining is that it's fairly rare.

Surrounding:
It's on the lake. Great surroundings and view. Tons of birds and ducks. Construction has been going on for years now, so there isn't really peace and quiet unless you wake up before the construction starts. I'm still here because of the views. As far the walk ways go, I rolled my ankle just walking in the evening. Extremely painful. The walkway is uneven and extremely dangerous at night.

Price:
These apartments (which are built in the 80s) are priced the same as all the new apartments on the lake. Read More
