Crappy Business Practices

I don’t leave reviews very often, but I honestly feel like you should know.

We called about an open apartment. We were told we were the first in line, and we were ready to show up, see it, pay the money, and sign the lease, which we communicated. The drive from our place to Sammamish View is 20 min tops. While we were ON THE WAY to sign papers, they rented it to someone else. They knew our names. They knew we were on the way. They knew we were first in line and were ready to go and really...
wanted it.

That’s just crappy business practice if you ask me.

It would have been so easy to say, “We have someone before you, but if theirs falls through it’s yours.”

Instead, in 20 min, WHILE WE WERE DRIVING THERE they rented it to someone else.

Poor quality items that WILL break

The apartment will put poor quality items that WILL BREAK. And then you will be charged 10 to 20 TIMES of the real cost (there is no rule). Depends on how much manager likes or does NOT like you. If you have complained about her or the apartment then be ready to PAY BIG UNJUSTIFIED, UNREASONABLE costs.The apartment is surviving on south east asians who live there for Spiritridge school and are just being tortured with unlivable conditions as they are not aware of their tenant rights and are... being taken granted. Very poor apartments and more terrible management.

Good location, Not Secure, High Inflexible Rents

PROS: Sammamish View is conveniently located with freeway and good schools nearby.
CONS: The security situation is degrading rapidly. Car thefts are common. Mail thefts were common until secure mail boxes were installed. Essex is reluctant to install security cameras due to its cost. The trail head at the entrance is a public place which attracts junkies and lots of illegal activities happen at night. The smell of marijuana permeates the air right at the entrance to the community. Rent is a bit...
high and is not lowered when you renew the lease when prices have fallen in general. You will have to sign a new lease at a different unit to get the lower price.
Utility bills have seen a spike recently and no there is no transparency in providing a reason for the spike.

Declining security; Increasing water bills

-Pros:
Location. Close to highway. Decent school district. Shops nearby.

-Cons:
Cases of car theft and vandalism have increased over the past five years and becoming quite frequent since 2017.
My car has been broken into twice on these premises and I am located right next to Cabana.
There's a trail head near the entry to the community and that place is a popular hang out place for junkies and folks who want to smoke marijuana.

The tenants have raised a complaint about security and requested...
for putting up CCTVs. Those requests are being ignored. The excuse given is that it'll be an additional cost which the company (Essex) is not willing to bear.

The water bills have seen a significant increase in last one year (since 2017).
