dirty, smoky, dark, outdated

This place is gross. Needs a lot of updates. My apartment smelled of smoke - poor job of cleaning when the previous renter moved out. The carpet was filthy. All my neighbors smoked, so it was coming in constantly.

Property Manager at Whitnall Glen Apartments responded to this review

Thank you for providing feedback on your experience at Whitnall Glen Apartments. We are surprised to hear that your apartment was not properly cleaned when you moved in. Our standard procedure between each resident is always to have carpets either... replaced or professionally steam cleaned, walls painted, and everything thoroughly cleaned by a professional housekeeper. This work is then inspected by the maintenance and office team prior to our new residents moving in, and again during the move in inspection we complete with our new resident. We are sorry if the condition of your apartment at the time you moved in did not reflect that. We never want this to be anyone’s experience at Whitnall Glen Apartments. Since your review is anonymous, I do not have a way to contact you, but I would love the opportunity to discuss this with you. If you’re up for it, please give me a call at (414) 425-3000. Doug S. Renting in the Suburbs

Whitnall Glen Apartments are a good choice if you're looking for a safe complex with good curb-appeal. The upper apartments are much more spacious than the lowers, but all are lacking in storage space. The bathrooms, specifically, have minimal functional storage space.

On the surface, the apartment seem to be constructed well and decently taken care of. Upon further inspection, much of the work has been shoddily done. The windows leak heat like a sieve and require plastic covering during...
winter. This can get costly since apartments are heated with electric baseboards, and all heat gets trapped in the vaulted ceilings of the second floor. I cannot speak for all bathrooms in the complex, but mine consistently develops thick black mold where the shower walls join the tub. This is with consistent fan-running and monthly bleach treatments.

The management has gone persistently down-hill in the two years I've lived here. Originally, there was an on-site manager who maintained all landscaping and responded quickly to tenant concerns. Once she retired, an on-site office was opened, and quality of response on tenant concerns dropped. Now, the on-site office has moved down the street to Whitnall Gardens Apartments, and concerns are not addressed quickly at all. The property manager's response to concerns is "if it becomes a bigger problem, I'll address it then." This is a recipe for disaster. Management needs to step up and address their responsibilities.

Whitnall Glen Apartments are not all bad, but the above information is true as of 8/6/15. Some redeeming factors include the spacious porches and in-unit washer and dryer. Additionally, the apartments are located on the edge of Potter's forest (MPS school forest), which contains trails that connects to the Boerner Botanical Gardens located in Whitnall Park. The garages are large and have a lot of storage, but don't expect help if there are parking issues. If you complain too much about a specific issue, the property manager will leave a note in your door threatening eviction. Honestly, we wouldn't have to complain if the management just stepped up and took care of issues before they became out of hand.
Rent continues to go up an additional $15 a year, yet services continually decline.
