Chateau
The building, units, and grounds are very clean and fairly well kept up. There are regular cleanings done by the staff and attentive maintenance crew. It is an older building so there are some cosmetic features that are in desperate need of attention. The marblesque touches around the building, both in the apartment and in the halls, are beautiful for style but in need of repair or replacement. The wood floors, in the hallways and apartments, are nice but are beginning to bow in the middle(... the building was built around 1925), to the point where there are broken slats. Each unit has a gas fireplace that, while although posh looking, is the only source of heat during the winter, and takes some getting used to if you are not accustomed to a fire burning at all hours. Our one BR came with two shoddily installed window AC units, and if it hasn't been made clear by that description there is no ventilation system, which leads to a ridiculous amount of dust accumulation with the windows closed. Having said that there are LOTS of windows, about 60" high, and 10' ceilings, with views of downtown and the river. Conveniently located and priced.
