Nothing But Regret B/C of Management
I wish I could give negative stars for this review because as others have stated, management is rude, unethical, lazy, unaccountable, and seems to only care about money and the place that we moved into was not ready for us to move in. We moved out on 10/28/21 and were promised our prepaid rent back in two weeks and as of 12/19/21, we still have not received it and they are not responding to us.
The apartment was not ready for us to move in and there were so many issues! We were excited to move... because our unit had an attached garage and that was one of the main reasons we chose San Marino. Even at first glance, we saw issues, but when we took a closer look, we found many more. Our initial walkthrough, we found chips on the walls, unfinished paint, a drawer was just put into the counter and was not on the rails, the refrigerator was wobbly, there was a leak in the bathroom sink, the bathtub was glazed with dirt and debris still in it, there were gaps between the baseboards and the floor, and I could go on forever. It got to the point where we found it easier to take video of the place instead of pictures because there were so many issues. When a contractor would come to fix something, they would fix one thing, like the leak or put the drawer on the rails and say that the other issues were a different person.
The only good thing about management was that they agreed to let us out of the lease on the second day and giving us 48 hours. I found a great place that we are now where the management actually cares about the place and is responsive. We informed Marissa that we were moving out and agreed to give back the keys. After we had moved our stuff out, we went to the office to return the keys. We were told to sign an indemnification letter and give back the keys, but we would not be given a copy of the documents we signed for our records nor a final account statement of how much was owed back to us. We went back and forth w/ Marissa and she basically forced us to sign it because if we didn't sign by that night, the offer to let us out of the lease would expire. On 10/28/21, we reluctantly signed, gave back the keys, and were told that we would receive a check with our prepaid rent back in 2 weeks. I had to send them an email afterwards to recap our conversation because they would not give us anything in writing. We received the final account statement in the next few days, but as of the today, we have not received our check for almost $2,300 back.
