Renter beware!

My bathroom did not have a window or a vent fan. The courtyard on the first floor floods. The laundry machines eat your quarters, and then dryer requires at least two cycles. The water was shut off for almost two weeks while I was there, amid a seemingly unceasing series of plumbing repairs. In August or September of 2024 (I'm not sure because they locked me out of the tenant portal) mgmt began charging fees for the electricity for the lights in common areas and gas for the laundry hot water,... which we weren't notified about until mid-October.

I had to move parking spots multiple times because the property manager assigned to our building changed 3 or 4 times in the 2 years I was there, and they don't keep good records, so my spot was given to an incoming resident.

The cherry on top was the charge of $600 from my security deposit. I have never been charged for anything on move out, and I cleaned this place better than I've ever cleaned an apartment. They charged me $200 for cleaning, and over $400 for painting. California law states that landlords cannot charge for "general wear-and-tear" but Coastline Equity really wanted to keep my money.

Otherwise, I liked the location, and Jesus the super is really cool. But I gotta say, you're probably better off renting somewhere else.

Disappointing management

Be aware that water shutdowns occur monthly without notice, and the callbox has been non-functional for two months. It's unclear if there's an on-site manager, and problem resolution often takes several days. Despite a great location, the recent change in management has led to poor overall management.

New Management Company Doesn't Care

Coastline Equity is the new management company that took over. the previous owner/manager. This is what happens when big companies take over. All they do is increase your rent and add random charges but the building is just getting worse. It took about 4 months for them to fix our call box, the cleanliness/maintenance infront and around is getting worse. Only thing that's good is the location is central to markets, restaurants but they'll use every opportunity to charge you the most and do the... least.
