How Is This Rating Determined?

Good price and location, but lacking a lot.

This is my first apartment in Los Angeles, so I was happy to get something so centrally located. It's a $6 uber ride to anywhere in Hollywood, basically.

Positives:

It's right next to Paramount Studios and Hollywood Forever Cemetery. A safe neighborhood. Groceries, coffee, cultural events all close by.
Rent is very affordable.
Pets allowed w/ small amount of pet rent.
Old building has some character.

Negatives:

Parking is tough. The building doesn't offer any, and street parking is limited....

No laundry.
The building is old, and has hiccups on occasion, like poor water pressure, malfunctioning heating units, etc. Building management is fairly responsive to major issues, not responsive to minor ones.
Biggest negative: there is no insulation in this building. Everything from the other apartments and the hallways can be heard in each unit. There are several large families living here and the children are loud - screaming, banging against the walls, etc. It sounds like they're right in the apartment with you. So if you need quiet, this may not be the best spot for you.
