bug and noise issues
moved in this apartment in October 2020. It’s January 2021 now. I had a chance to talk with a few tenants and seems this complex has a common bug issue. My unit has a possible bug infestation in spring & summer due to the sloppy construction work. The sealing work around the baseboard, front door and windows is sloppy which likely allows bugs and other vermin to enter my living room. I might be able to tolerate if it were only spiders & role polys to invade my unit, but I had two other kinds of... unknown bugs; one type that jumps around at night. I needed to spray insecticide near my front door in the morning & night and clean up dead bugs every morning. OakCliff (Village Green) is not willing to identify those bugs. They can’t come up with a solid solution yet, nor can guarantee that I would not deal with the bug issue in spring & summer again. They do have pest control service by Orkin every two weeks. But the spray didn't work for the two kinds of bugs in the warmer season.
OakCliff (Village Green) kindly asked me to move to another unit, but the rent for the unit they offered was $300 higher than my current rate (I still have 9 months lease left), AND the unit they offered was much less desirable in location & layout than my current unit. They offered this by telling me that they waive the transferring fees and cover some moving cost (total of $900).
This apartment complex is very nice outside, but I do feel that Oakcliff (Village Green) management doesn't care about the comfort and well-being of their tenants, especially when an issue comes up.
