Bad First Apartment
This is the first place I have ever rented, and I definitely...learned some lessons. It was very difficult to contact the property manager to get a tour and fill out an application, and maybe I should have taken that as a sign that something was off, but I ended up renting anyway.
Maintenance has either dragged their feet or neglected to help at all for every single issue I had, from unsafe electrical outlets to broken washing machines (they claimed it "wasn't their problem" despite the machines... being for the entire building's use). When water began leaking from my bathroom ceiling due to another tenant flooding his bathtub, it took them OVER AN HOUR to respond, and then tried to pass it off as "condensation from a hot shower" until I showed them the bucket of dirty water I had collected. Maintenance also dragged their feet when MUSHROOMS grew on my bathroom ceiling due to the leak. The super flat out refused to test for mold in the ceiling, so I had to pay out of my own pocket to make sure I wouldn't be poisoned my own bathroom.
The elevator breaks down at least every two months and there are multiple potholes in the outdoor parking lot. Even when the elevator works, it shakes and the door refuses to close. There is also racist graffiti in the garage that has gone unattended for weeks.
There are probably other issues that I'm forgetting but these are the main ones. There are several health hazards in this building and management is neglectful at best. I'm going to get out of here as soon as I can.
