I DON’T RECOMMEND LIVING HERE!!!
We recently moved out of Marquis at Texas Street. While the apartment complex may seem attractive at first glance, several issues make living here a highly frustrating experience.
Elevator Issues
The elevator in the building is notorious for being unreliable. It barely worked throughout the entire year we lived there. On the rare occasion it was fixed, it would only function for a day before breaking down again, leaving residents inconvenienced for months at a time.
Mold Problems
The bathtub... in our apartment developed significant mold, despite our best efforts to clean it with every product available. When we reported this issue to maintenance, their solution was to spray paint over the mold. This quick fix would fade away quickly, and the mold would reappear. To add insult to injury, when we moved out, they charged us over $200 for the condition of the bathtub, which was completely unacceptable given the persistent mold problem and inadequate maintenance.
Stove Charges
Upon moving in, we noted that the glass top stove had visible scratches, indicating previous use. However, when we moved out, we were shocked to be charged over $600 for the stove. This charge is outrageous and unjustifiable, especially since the stove was not in perfect condition when we arrived.
Security Concerns
Security is a major concern at Marquis at Texas Street. During our stay, there were at least five incidents of vehicles being stolen from the parking lot. The management's response was lackluster, treating these serious incidents as if they were routine and offering no real solutions or increased security measures.
Mailbox Break-Ins
There were also at least three break-ins at the mailboxes during our tenure. The only response from management was to send out an email, which did nothing to prevent further incidents or reassure residents about their safety.
Garage Gate Issues
The garage gate frequently broke down and would take days to repair, leaving the parking area vulnerable and residents inconvenienced.
Invasive Maintenance Practices
One of the most troubling aspects was the maintenance staff's disregard for our privacy. Despite explicitly stating in maintenance requests not to enter without permission, they would enter our apartment without notice. This invasive practice was unacceptable and made us feel unsafe in our own home.
Prospective tenants should be aware of these significant drawbacks before considering this complex as their home.
