Thin walls, No sound/smell insulation, Residents can hear each other
Lived here for 2 years.
Beware of the lack of privacy at this apartment community.
There is no sound/smell insulation in these apartment units.
Residents can hear each other.. You will find that some of these residents are very sensitive to noise and smells.
Also, the rear gate slams regularly

Few frills, but fine
I've lived here for two years and am moving out to be closer to my girlfriend in NorCal. If you're looking for a low-key place to live in LA, this does the job, but there are some things to keep in mind. On the plus side, the landlord covers all utilities, parking is included, and rent control is in play because of how old the building is. The trade-off is that you cannot have air conditioners, and air flow is definitely an issue given the age of the property (the pipes also get clogged very... easily). On that note, ever since California legalized recreational use of certain substances, some odors have become very pronounced around the complex. All told, this is a decent spot to live, in a very good West LA location, but there are some things to work around.

Cheap, but has some flaws
The location is convenient, walking distance to downtown Culver City, close to the 10 and the 405 and for a one bedroom apartment on the westside, the rent is quite low. With low rent, there are no amenities, including no AC. I do have a parking spot which is great since street parking in the neighborhood is impossible. Also, they pay all of my utilities including electricity and gas. There is laundry on site and I rarely have a problem getting all of the machines at once. My biggest problem... is a very loud neighbor who they can't seem to evict and that they inspect the apartments every couple months which feels like an invasion of privacy, but it was in the lease so there's nothing I can do about it. The apartment managers are very kind, but they make you follow all of the rules, even the ones that seem unimportant.
If you're looking to save a little money and can handle the noise and extreme heat for a few weeks a year, it definitely works.
