Pretty property but thin walls
The property is pretty and is in a quiet location within driving distance to multiple grocery stores and within walking distance to the orange line, and the maintenance staff is excellent, but the walls between apartments are thin. I loved the apartment until I got new neighbors that I can hear yelling on the other side of my bedroom wall and I even get woken up by their snoring at night. If you are a heavy sleeper, or have considerate neighbors, there won't be a problem.

Seems fine, but pictures are not quite representative of the location.
The pictures are somewhat off as to what is at the location. It looks a lot older, and the place has a strong dog smell. A lot of dark looking hallways seem to pervade, so we wonder if there is a high crime rate we are not seeing...
We asked around to residents and they said the front desk team has become a lot more informal and hands-off - tending to send out e-mails instead of addressing problems. Hopefully, that will not be an issue.
Also, one resident seemed to ominously suggest we need to... keep our car doors locked. That didn't bode well.
The apartment comes with a fairly large sized washer and dryer and the bathrooms are fairly large. The carpet in some apartments looks cheap and, in my experience, you will probably pay for it out of your deposit towards the end of your lease.
My wife is in-between jobs and I am in IT at Paramount, so this works in our budget; however, we will be looking at leaving at the first sign of trouble.

Quiet living at a fairly high cost.
Cons: New management has been almost non-existent on contacting residents on things that matter, yet if fees are due they do not hesitate to stick it on your account. Fire alarms going off for an hour at times ... even at 3AM in the morning. Dogs pee WHEREVER because management does not enforce the people using the dog run ... and so the hallways smell like dog pee most of the time. There is also a theft problem going on in the garage ... that is supposed to be gated! Pool is usually down... for one reason or the other.
Pros: The actual apartments are relatively safe, so that is a plus. The maintenance people will get with you relatively fast. The ability to pay online is there. There have been no power outages.
Nobody really interacts with each other, so no reason to get to know your neighbors.

Longest Tenant
A newer building, I was literally one of the first tenants to move in and after 2 years, I'm one of a few that are still here.
My OCD makes me insanely picky especially when it comes to selecting an apartment. I toured roughly 30 apartments before making a selection and I can tell you it was well worth the headache I gave myself!
Here's some information about the Avery that I hope you find helpful in your search for the perfect apartment!
~The building is only 2 YEARS OLD so everything is in... great shape and still looks new!
~I LOVE how spacious the hallways are (especially for moving)
~The LEASING OFFICE is onsite and open 7 days/week!
~RE: STAFF, I usually don't care if everyone is friendly, and just pay attention to how the manager handles things but I can honestly tell you that the entire staff is friendly and more than happy to help.
~You can DO EVERYTHING ONLINE (pay rent and other utilities, request maintenance service etc)
~Because of the layout of the property, it FEELS BIGGER than it actually is which is great because you feel like you have a lot of space.
~I don't have PETS so I've never paid attention to features for them but there's a dog trail and now I see the amazing benefit! It's great when pets have their own designated space:)
~The property is WELL-MAINTAINED
~ I love that it's WALKING DISTANCE to so many little shops, convenience stores and restaurants
~PARKING is a cinch!! Not only do you have assigned private spaces (tandem for 2 bedroom folks) in the underground garage but there's also ample guest parking spaces and more than enough street parking!
~IF YOU WANT TO CHECK IT OUT...For 2 bedroom tenants they offer 3 floor plans (onyx, jade or slate) I suggest first deciding on which floor plan you like and then when touring, request to see several vacancies with that same floor plan. This is because when I first toured the building before construction was even completed I was surprised by the noticeable differences between apartments that on paper are supposed to be the same.
~ARMED SECURITY patrols the property from 10pm to 6am
~GYM is much smaller in person but it's 24 hours & works just fine
~POOL, FIRE PIT & LOUNGE all close at 10pm which I think is unusually early
~THEY SAY THE LOUNGE IS FREE and it is, unless you want to reserve it. Reservations require a refundable deposit in case of damages which is totally normal however, they will also charge $25/hr which is non-refundable

Excellent building
This is the perfect place if you want an home-like feel within your apartment. A few minutes from all of the bars and hangouts on Ventura and quick drive to Hollywood.
I love being nestled away from the madness but s o close at the same. The building has security on site, a gym, swimming pool, barbecue area with fire pit and a Wi-Fi lounge.
I love it!
